leaded windows and doors

Does anyone know if the leaded patterns on windows can be removed safely and does it leave marks when removed. We have this rose and leaf pattern in the glass of the front door, and I hate it, looks old fashioned now ( it is a UPVC door)

Sounds like the latest fashion to me! Go to any double glazing people and they'll sell you these for a hundred or two quid: we've just had a rose and leaf pattern put in our dining room window...
And a few of the neighbours have followed suit with other leaded windows.
