I was advised by a plumber to keep my hot water timer on continuous rather than twice a day, but the chap who delivers my oil says I should swicth the timer to twice a day for the hot water

The plumber says it is more cost -worthy keeping the hot water on constant rather than having it heat up twice a day

any suggestions?

Hi Elvis. We have a dual system, oil included. I'd say that your delivery guy's right. If you're out at work or leaving the house all day, keeping the hot water on's going to cost you more than if you just put it on for when you need it. The actual heating up DOES cost more money initially, but a lot depends on the size of your water tank and what lagging's been used. Ours doesn't need any, but it's a large tank. We could have baths, hot water for washing up - and it'd still be warm enough the next morning for washing in. So, an hour or less per day, is all that you'll need. Just telling you this from personal experience, but others may think differently.
