New garage.
7 Answers
I'm rebuilding my garage, it's going to be 6.10 metres long, 3.6 metres wide, 2.5 metres high along one 6.10 metre length dropping to 2.3 metres on the other.
How many tiles will I need to cover it?
Will I need to increase the pitch of the roof to accept a tile or slate?
If so, what height should the highest side be?
Would I be best just sheeting it in metal roofing boards (if 2.5 high)?
My 'O' level in maths says it's almost exactly 22 square metres.

That's a tough way to go Everton ............. the best I can think of is a concrete tile that can go down to 15 degrees. I've worked out that you would need to raise the "back" wall by 1.1 metres to get the pitch.
Why not go for box profile metal sheets .......... nice pretty colours too :o)

What if I kept the walls at 2.3 metres all the way around and fitted an apex roof, what height would I have to go to then?
I saw a garage yesterday and the pitch looked quite shallow but had a very short fall, I'll try and draw it for you ______
Side elevation / \
Front elevation /\ , this aspect is tiled and pitched / like so and sits above the garage door.
I know it's not perfect, but effectively it had ridge tiles across the top and then running down the front elevation to the wall tops, it would have formed a four sided pyramid shape if it hadn't been topped off.
The other alternative is to go fo for a standard apex roof,
Side elevation ________
l l
The front elavation would be the same as above /\ but flat with a brick fascia over the door.
Clears as mud I dare say!
