Anyone got any ideas how to clean a discoloured steel engineering ruler without taking the measurement markings off as well? TIA

Nice one, boxtops. It took an oil stain out of our block paved drive. One thing though, don't use the diet type, I just got the cheapest I could find.

I use it regularly to clean the toilet.

Can't really be done, as the indented marks will be the sme colour as the staining.
Best way is to polish off as much as you dare on a rag buff.
