Vaillant TURBOmax Plus 837E Boiler - Heating control clock not keeping time
5 Answers
I have a Vaillant TURBOmax Plus 837E boiler. It is not more than a few years old and other than this problem is in excellent working order. Recently a fault has developed with the clock that controls the heating. It is losing time and despite resetting it daily it soon falls hours behind time and as a result my heating will not switch on at the desired times of day. This is proving a nuisance. Is there something I can do to correct this without the need for an engineer call out? I would be grateful for any suggestions please. Many thanks.

You can find a replacement timer/clock and replace it.
Pretty easy.

Hi Albags, I wanted to come back and say thank you for your advice. I looked up the spare part that you suggested and it said that it was easy just to slot it in with no need for wiring etc. This gave me the confidence to open up the boiler and look at taking out the existing clock to see if there was visible signs of wear etc. What I found was that there was very little connection between the pins and the circuit board. I was able to push the unit further into the connection. Almost 24 hours on and this seems to have done the trick with the clock keeping time at this point. So not only did you offer me a cheaper fix but it actually turned out to cost nothing!!! Hurrah - I shall have a glass of wine in your honour this evening!!!
