I bought a pointsetia at Christmas. I never have any luck with them but thought I would give it a go. It is in my kitchen because that is the sunniest room and it is still red and no leaves have fallen.
How long do they usually stay this way.

I can't answer your question directly but this information, from the Royal Horticultural Society might help you to keep your Poinsettia in prime condition:

(NB: Read the bit about pruning hard back in April. If you've not already done so, it might be wisest to do it right away).

I still have mine as well they are normally dead by January in my house but that isn't the answer to the question as I don't know the answer - mine is on the window sill and is loving it = it hasnt grown but unlike yours mine has dropped a few leaves but is still bright red
