Are dead flowers (roses) and their stems ok to put in a compost bin?

Cheers, will cut stems into small pieces as the only shredder we have is a paper one!

I put woody stalks in my green rubbish bin.

Yes, I do put woody material in the compost, as it provides air pockets, which helps the bacteria to multiply thus breaking other marterial down faster.

Rose stems are absolutely fine, joe, as are all flower stems.

Anything that has grown from the soil is ok, but I don`t add roots of dandelions or other pernacious weed, as they will grow again.
