moving rose bushes
we have had to move some rose bushes in the garden and put them into pots,would it be better to prune them to hep them survive as they look a bit sorry for themselves or leave them as they are

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Kinda the wrong time to transplant roses... at least here in the U.S. But if you have no other choice, trim them back slightly, mostly to remove any dead canes and open up the center of the plant for air circulation. When moving the plant, take as much extra soil around the circumference as you can to obtain maximum root support.
Fertilize lightly using a mix with the middle number higher than the other two, such as 5-9-4, which will promote root development and water profusely assuring the pot has good drainage. Lots of sun, please!
