My appple tree has no fruit for the first time in 30 years, the blossom was fine in the spring and my cooking apple some fruit but not as much as usual. Can Anyone guess why?
Strange that as both my apple trees which didn't produce anything the last two years are laden this year. Could there have been a frost at the time of blossom?
Mine did that a couple of years ago but did not recover. Got round to having it taken down a week or so ago and it was riddled with honey fungus according to the tree feller.
You can only identify honey fungus when it's too late! It looks like bootlaces amongst the rotting roots.Apparently it can invade a tree through a wound or scar.
The tree looks fine but maybe a bit overcrowded. There is also a little white stuff coming from between the bark and wood where branches have been pruned in the past.
