Garden Plants Attracting Flies
My garden plants in large wooden tubs are attracting big flies.
I've checked for dead snails / slugs & removed dead leaves & weeds but my plants are always covered in large flies - does anyone know why?
Its not just a few - there are always around 10 to 15 each tub & when I water it, they are like a tornado flying away !!! ta

Tubs and pots seem to attract flies because the soil is usually excellent for laying eggs. I have found that when pot plants are taken indoors within a couple of days they are smothered with tiny flies. So maybe its the type of soil which is attracting them . The washing up liquid suggestion is also one I found effective.
