I am attempting to keep my lovely potted Christmas tree for next year .... it needs repotting ............. what soil should I use? An does it need a feed? Of what? How often? Can I trim it to keep it in shape?

Once you have taken your tree outside, either plant it out or plant it up to a bigger container. Don’t forget water and, during spring, a regular feeding.

Christmas trees are no different to most other potted plants – except perhaps for size over time. Look after your Christmas tree and it will reward you with many happy Christmas’s into the future.

Thank Maidup ............ what soil type should I use when repotting and what type of feed?
John Innes 3 is good for large pots and well established shrubs. I'd include some slow release plant food in the spring but you might be best to ask in the garden centre when you buy the compost .
I use ordinary garden soil and never feed, I've had it 5 years now and repot every 2 years and trim the roots at the same time.
