rooting chrysanthemums

I put some sideshoots from some bought chrysanths in a small jar just in tap water, not only did they live,but look fresh weeks after the main bunch had dyed off, when I took them out today to change the water they had grown 'lumps' on the bottom of the stalks, does this mean they are tryng to grow roots? if so what do I do next please?

Plant them in damp sand and keep it damp by putting the pot in a dish of water. Keep them out of direct sunlight. This works for most plants though I haven't used it for chrysanths. Taking off most of the leaves reduces the water demand whilst they are developing roots.

The `Lumps` are the start of new root growth.

thanks, I've never had this happen before, they have been in a sunny window so maybe the warmth helped, I will try to grow them on, I feel like a proper gardener now, never done anything like it before, thanks again.
