No, it's not a joke!
Grown several varieties in growbags in a sunny greenhouse and they are only just ripening now and they are sooo small, more like big cherry tomatoes and they are delicious but have rather thick skins.
Why?

Don't know about the size, Ganesh....but underwatering and high temperatures can thicken the skin of a growing tomato...x
what variety are they?

Really? I have watered them everytime they look like they need it, maybe not enough ,and I know they did dry out once quite badly when I was away on a very hot week-end. Do you think that would make them like this from now on because of that?
Jom may know more about the varieties you have but I believe the skins thicken as a sort of protection from heat.....

If some are still growing they might just be better.

Mine haven't ripened yet but like yours....they dried out while I was away so I'm expecting some thickening and splitting....
One of the important things about growing tomatoes is never to stress them especially when young. Last year we bought some plants (probably pre-stressed in the nursery or during transit)and planted them in grow bags outside..a dismal failure. This year grew my own plants from seed, planted them outside in the soul...magnificent crop, am giving them too all and sundry. The big problem with growbags is watering them adequately whereas the soil is much more forgiving.
You have to have a thick skin if you're small: everyone looks down on you.
Tell me about it, OG.....:-(
Mine are also a lot smaller this year ... less than half a kilo each.
