I was given an orchid 3 months ago with one stem of flowers, since then another stem has grown out and now has flowers on. The first stem of flowers have all died. Do I need to do anything with it or will it just die off?

Assuming it's a Phalaenopsis (moth orchid) here is what you need.

I've always trimmed off the stem once the flowers have died.

Thank you so much for the link, very helpful
Pullman, always keep orchids in a CLEAR pot/container.. The roots need to have the light on them. They don't like the dark. I've had an orchid for several years now and it's still ok. Good luck with it. xx
