Which are the sweetest cherries that can be kept as a patio plant

I'm certainly no expert here but a bit of googling indicates that you'll need a self-fertile variety, with 'Lupins', 'Stella' and 'Sunburst' being the most likely candidates.

Of those, 'Stella' is particularly noted for the sweetness of its fruit.

Can I presume that if I get an ordinary plant but can I still keep it in a pot?

As I've said, I'm no expert but my first link above says "They can be grown in large containers . . . ", so I assume that as long as you've got a very big pot you shouldn't have any problems.

We have a Stella and the cherries are delicious

We also have a Stella,originally in a container, where the results were good but since transfering into the garden the results have been brilliant.It's topped out at about 7ft high and has been a very high cropper for the last 4-5 years producing loverly sweet cherries.

So this is what I am thinking - Get a Stella and prune it down to about 1metre and keep it in a pot in the conservatory - then, if I get a house with a garden again I can pop it out in the garden
What can possibly go wrong
