Many thanks to everyone who replied to my earlier question. I have put mesh down on the raised beds and it seems to have done the trick. However, when I want to grow plants in the raised beds the mesh will be in the way, so I have taken advice and bought some "Silent Roar" (essence of lion poo). It seems to be good at keeping cats and foxes away but I am worried that it might deter hedgehogs as well. We have nightly visits from hedgehogs and at the moment we have one hibernating in its own hut which we bought a couple of years ago. Does anyone have knowledge of its hedgehog deterring properties? I also bought a product called "Shell on Earth (crushed mussel shells) which is meant as a slug deterrent but I am hoping might be uncomfortable for cats as well. I'm thinking that I can put that round the plants if I can't use the lion poo. Thanks in advance.

I can't help you but if your question goes back intl Latest Posts maybe someone will see and answer it.

Can you not leave mesh in place and let the plant stems go through it. You could cut a hole in mesh with a Stanley knife, then fold it back once you've got plant planted and repair mesh with some small cable ties?
