what's your pet hate in the garden? (apart from cat poo that is) or any funny stories?
I hate yukkas - horrible things. I don't understand why they're popular & I cut my arm on one last year simply walking past it.... ...and those walls made entirely from decorative screen blocks which became popular in the 70s, ugh!.... sorry if I've now alienated all gardeners on here!
I've never forgotten that once on gardeners question time a guest was advised to prune her ground cover roses to 6 inches above the ground. When Bob Flowerdew gave his answer he said he'd prefer them all to be pruned 6 inches below the ground .... :o)
My pet hate is an absolutely indestructible week called oxyalis, which looks rather like a 3 leaved clover and has little nodules on its roots which keep allowing the plant to regenerate. I spent hours on my knees every year trying to dig up every little bit and put it in the dustbin so it doesn't regenerate in my compost heat. Yet every Spring, I get out into the garden again, and there it is, popping up its dammned little shoots again. Enough to make you weep!.
people who cut tyres then turn them inside out paint them white and stick bedding plants in them dont water them enough plants die then they take them down to the tip
there must be a name for them!!!!!!!!!
