bird(s) of paradise
I recently bought a home that has huge clomps of "bird of paradise", do these need to be divided? Any special instructions on care?

Bird of paradise or to give it its botanical name Strelitzia originates from south Africa and is not hardy outside in the UK but it can be grown outdoors in the summer in pots and brought inside in the winter, it will grow best in full sun or dappled shade.
Although it is a clump forming plant, it actually likes to have its roots crammed up in a pot, so its not nessesary to repot until the roots are bursting through the sides and it will flower more readily if grown like this.
Feed with a general liquid fertilizer, water freely throughout summer but just keep damp in winter.
Ps If your home is in Spain you should have no problems! Good Luck Tbird+
