I'll list a few shrubs that can be trained of grown against a south facing wall, basicly they should be able to withstand a fair amount of frost and shade.
Chaenomeles ,(japanese quince)
Cottoneaster,
Pyracantha,
Winter jasmin, (jasminum nudiflorum)
Photinia,
Mahonia,
Forsythia,
Escolonia',
Some climbers, like Honey suckle (Lonicera) or clematis may be suitable but you would need to check on the paticular variety, as to the best positioning.
I'm sure others may add to the list, some other suitable plants. Good Luck Tbird+

However i have got another question base on the maintenance of the plants.
These plants are to be installed on the north facing wall,
possible up to 10 storey high,(ground to 10th flr) with intermediate balcony on each floor for access. please confirm to me how can i maintain these plants. can cherry picker be used or do you have to absail from above to prune the plants.
