Hello
I have bought 8 golden groove bamboo plants and they have been planted in my garden for about 2 months now. 3 of them seem to have gone a bit pale and dry. I thought they were for clay soil, but have just checked and they are actually for acid soil. I dont know anything about soil types, apart from mine is so heavy you could build houses with it. Is there anything I can do, I dont want to lose them because they cost a fortune.
Thanks in advance!

Clay can be an acid soil, it's usually on the acid side, a PH of about 7 is nutral, lower numbers are increasingly acidic and higher numbers up the scale are getting alcaline (chalky). You might like to invest in a cheap and simple soil testing kit to see what kind of soil you have, most garden centres should stock them. Good Luck. Tbird+
Ps, I have rhododendrons, heathers and azalias all doing well on my clay.

See what I mean, I know nowt about soil! Thanks for your help
You should be alright , i think the bamboo is probably still settling in. My bamboo did something similar to yours when i first planted it in my clay soil. But now 2 years on- its thriving.

I hope so, I wanted it to grow big and strong by the summer to block out the flats behind the house!
