what's happened to my seedlings

having grown busy lizzies from seed i today put them outside to harden off on bringing them in they look to be wilting and turning white!!!! what have i done wrong please

Hi densplants you didnt water them before you put them out did you and then put them in the sun.?

Too much sun would be my answer too.

Sudden exposure to cold north-northeast winds as well as too much sun too soon canbe devastating to seedlings.
If posible It's best to put them in a cold-frame or similar improvised shelter before putting them outside.
Hopefully they can be saved if they are not too badly affected. Good Luck. Tbird+
