Recently found a type of insect looks like a ladybird but without spots (they fly as well) have a good old munch on the lillies and its only the lillies they seem to be eating, also laying orange eggs under the leaves, anyone know what they are and how to get rid of them?

Yeah they are the pests!!!! Thanks for getting back so quick, off down the garden centre first thing tomorrow
I assume its the red lily beetle. I too have had it in the past. I got rid of it by checking daily and killing the beetle before it has a chance to lay its eggs. If the eggs hatch you end up with little maggot like pupa which will devastate your lilies as happened to me a few years ago. Good luck
glad i am trawling through old questions!!!
i saw the very same bugs on my lily's earlier today and like you mitsy, am off to B&Q tomorrow!!! :-) x
