This was my first view of the plant and - it was almost dumped!

So glad I trimmed and fed it, as 2 months it has changed dramatically, but what is it? Thank you for any help.

Hi Cetti, it looks like a weigela to me....not something I associate with being a container shrub but it looks very nice.

Thank you Robinia, I thought it was some kind of Honeysuckle.

Will it be ok to leave it in this pot - as this is how we found it?
Most of them will eventually make large shrubs - keeping it in a pot will restrict it of course. You could plant it in the ground, sunny or light shade, so as to enjoy it to the full but I can see that it's arching habit looks good raised like that.
Having said that, I've lots of shrubs in pots that should be in the ground but I like to move things about. Ideally, my entire garden would be in pots....& on castors! :o)
Hi Cetti, After a good study, I think it could be 'Kolkwitzia' (beauty bush) by the way the flowers are arranged. It's very similar to Weigela.
Question Author
Hi TBird,The Kolkwitzia is rather lovely, isn't it?

I'd be happy to have either bush, so I'll wait and see if there are any more clues.

New plants and flowers are continually popping up through the soil, so I'll be back to test you again very soon.

Thank you both for your help.
Hi Cetti, Yes whatever it is, it's a lovely shrub, I hope some hawk-eyed person can get a positive ID for you.
Your new garden seems full of nice surprises, and I'd love to know what that other mystery plant turns out to be (the one with the lance shaped leaves from a few weeks back.)
