Magnolia Stellata - how tall??
5 Answers
I've put a Magnolia stellata in my front garden under the window as the label says a height of 1.5 which I presume is metres.
I was gardening out there one day and a chap stopped and asked me why I'd put it there as his is 15 feet high. Are there different types of this magnolia, is he wrong - or am I reading the label incorrectly?
Can I prune this tree if it gets too high?
Also, if I would be better moving it, should I do it now (it's been in about 2 months and seeems to be doing well) or let it get more established.
One last thing, would this tree grow in a pot if I can't find another place for it?
Thanks for any help you can give me, Anne

However, if you intend to stay in your present home I'd be inclined to move it to a place where you can enjoy it to it's full potential in coming years. I can see one from my window & it's beautiful when it flowers.
As they don't like being moved the sooner it's done the better, but you'll have to keep it well watered.
Seems it would be ok in a pot see here
