Is it Jasmine?

Whilst walking along the Thamnes last week we stopped by a climbing plant with small white flowers and a lovely perfume. Was it Jssmine and will it grow further north - also is it easy to grow in pots for a complete beginner

This plant could be a solanum jasminoid < potato vine> but probably summer jasmine <jasminum officinale> ,which have small white flowers on, my next door neighbour has two big plants of the summer jasmine both in tubs,I have two tubs with winter jasmine in <jasminum nudiflorum> ,funny name, this has small yellow flowers on. I have the tubs on a north west wall sheltered by the fence and I live in Essex. Hope this helps.
