If I collect the seeds from this years growth and plant them next year, will they produce the same flowers with perfume or is it worth trying at all?

You can and should have pretty good results with the exception being if any of this years plants were hybridized. Most hybrids (where two or more plants are used to produce a desired characteristic) are sterile...

Clanad, I'll pick as many as I can and give it a go next year. Thanks for your help.

I'm sure they will germinate. I do this most years and plant half of the seeds in a sheltered spot at the end of October. If you store seeds keep them in a paperbag. Good luck!

Thanks Bromsgrove, I'll be sure to paperbag the seeds, but is Norn Iron suitable to plant out some at the end of October or would it be too cold??
I live in the north of England and it works without problems. An idea might be to plant them in pots and store in a sheltered place before planting them in their final positions in spring.

Thanks again Bromsgrove, that's exactly what I'll do.Will look forward to seeing the results next year.
