Anyone got any magic tips about finding mushrooms?

Firstly, make sure you can identify which fugi are poisonous.

Secondly, be 100% sure the mushroom is an edible variety.

Carry a good field guide to help you learn and identify which ones to pick and which ones to leave alone.

Once you've taken that advice (sound!), look under broad-leafed woodland such as beech. You'll often find chanterelles & hedgehog fungus growing there, as well as different varieties of bolete (ceps).
