How much would it cost to have a Very Large Fir tree either topped or taken down. It must be 20ft at least.

Agreed re location. 20ft isn't that large a tree (about gutter height on a normal house), so whatever you decide to do it wont break the bank. Get three quotes and please use reputable companies, there are plenty around and the market is competitive. Specfiy what you want. ie "take down tree, grind or dig out stump, take away all arisings and leave site neat and tidy". Only pay on completion and when you are happy with the work.
