With Poinsettias, you must ensure that you cover the plant with a large paper bag or similar before you take it out of the shop or else it will get chilled and the leaves will fall off within a few days when you get it home. Also mind you dont get any sap on your fingers and whatever you do DONT let it get on your lips, and keep it away from children of any age. These plants are poisonous, so beware they are not worth the money you spend on them....Sorry growers...you know it makes sense.

it has been proven they are not poisonous. They are also not as delicate as people make out and there is certainly no need to cover with a bag if you are buying one and just taking it home.
We are lucky!! Here in Spain we grow them in the ground outside and some of the older ones are10 to 15 feet high and are a mass of colour at the moment.
