... the flowers bloom in summer, it is a root plant with fluffy leaves (similar to a nettle leaf.) The blooms are yellow and I always think are quite unusual. Have you ant idea what it might be?

Verbascum is not unlike foxgloves, but the leaves are covered with a fluffy down. Yes! Yellow flowers is one variety, though other colours are found. Each mature plant can produce up to 100,000 seeds, size similar to poppies. It has a massive growing potential up to 8 feet high. A recent specimen in S.Wales towered above the heatherland at the sea shore, with two spikes. Like foxgloves the florets are radiated around a central spike. We are warned that this beastie, can take over the garden and drown out everything else. Like poor well drained soil.Certainly once you have seen one, you'll never need to take a second glance to know what one looks like. I've got some pictures, though Google has some reference shots.
Finally if anyone can tell me the best procedure as to how to get it to germinate? Please enlighten me.
