decking rope

I have heard it said you should soak rope before you use it for edging decking is this right and if so what should i do

rope stretches when it is wet so if you make nice loops with dry rope, it will sag to the ground when the rain comes. BUT if you set it taut when it is wet, when it dries it will pull up and may detatch from the fastenings or pull up the postsof course this is rope made of natural fibres, I don't think that synthetic fibre rope stretches when wet
