I have a young apple tree and there are loads of baby fruits on every branch. As the apples grow very big and weigh down the branches, how and when should I thin out the fruit?

In a few weeks time, around the end of June/beginning of July, we shall get the "June Drop" which is the tree's way of thinning the crop. Wait until this has happened, a substantial number will drop, if you feel the tree is still carrying too much fruit, thin each cluster of fruits to one or two fruits, and in due time enjoy! Hope this is of help

Thanks a lot, Bromsgrove, that's really helpful - it may be elementary and everyone probably knows stuff like this but I'm grateful for such a clear answer.
