This plant grows on Magnetic Island,Australia up above highwater- mark in pure beachsand.About 2m high, scraggly ,has velvety large leaves.Once a year "bladderlike",fistsize seedpods, first green but dry out and open showing small ,flat seeds attached to cottonlike fluff.
Any ideas what it could be ??
Thanks for trying,Fred

At first glance it looks like some kind of hoya but there are many different varieties & I've no idea what the seeds look like. Being many, many miles from Australia I only know hoyas as houseplants. Good luck in your quest!

It is a Calotropis procera. Not native to Austalia but has escaped from gardens and now considered a weed. Take a look here.

Crikey Hawkwalk, so it is...well done!
you can get some sleep now :o)

(I wonder what happened to Tbird? not seen him around for ages)
I must admit I did cheat on this one and asked on an Australian gardening forum as I could not work out what it was.

not sure where Tbird is. He was always full of good information. Lets hope he is busy gardening somewhere.

Thanks Hawkwalk !!
Sorry my answer comes so late ,we were in South Korea at the time ,in a dingy PS- den and I could not hack the smoke for too long.
Now I can sleep better knowing what my plant is !!
Fancy you checking with an Australian Gardening Forum ,probably just around the corner from where I live.
That's the difference between a pro and a newbie.
Thanks again, Fred
