Can anyone please tell me what is the highest garden/boundary wall one can build in Scotland without planning permission? Thank you.

Best contact your local planning department. They are usually quite helpful

Hi Bimbo. That's my intention first thing Monday morning but I just wondered if anyone could give me a guide so I can ponder various options before speaking to them.
I`m pretty sure it`s 6ft around private premises, any higher and you have to get permission and submit plans.

Thank you Shylock. That's about what I thought and of course I'll check everything out with the appropriate authiority before getting started. Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks again.
If you are going to 6ft please ensure the wall is on a suitable footing and stable. ie a full brick width (210mm) with piers for added support. Theres been too many half brick width walls of that height slashed up round here (that have collapsed thru wind and poor construction
