Hi,I hope someone can help. We have an evergreen honeysuckle which almost covers a 6 foot trellis partition in our garden. It's not looking very happy at all,not many flowers and is very straggly and woody. Can anyone tell me how to prune it and when can I do it. I don't know how to prune the old woody bits without cutting the new shoots...it's so thick! Thanks for reading this.
probably to late in the season to prune now, try giving it a feed, then at the end of the summer prune it back a bit, then next spring give it another pruning,
but then the weather been so bad this year, even my glads are doing really bad, it might spring to live yet.
You know Greenman I really wanted to do that but was a bit scared it would die. We inherited it and think it's about 5 years old..the roots are quite big. I'm going to take your advice.Would you say Autumn would be September onwards to give it a bit of a chance before it gets too cold.We live oop North in Cheshire.
