I topped up my fish pond yesterday, and this afternoon the water level is about 2 inches lower. It has been a warm sunny day, so is it due to evaporation? Is the level affected by other weather conditions such as wind? Finally, is there an easy way of checking if the liner is punctured without emptying the pond out?

unlikely to be evaporation at that rate. Do you have a pump or a fountain as this could be the cause?

If it is very windy and the fountain water is being blown out then that can recuce the amount by a lot very quickly. There could also be a leak in a pipe.

If there are no pumps or fountains and that amount is reducing each day then it will be a leak. The only way to find it is drain it or let the water leak out until it stops then you know the level the leak is at.

I do have a pump so will check the hose where it goes to and from the external filter. Didn't actually think of that one. Thanks for the comments.
Maybe the fish were thirsty ?
