I have a magnolia plant in my living room. It has always done well and about 4 weeks ago produced some beautiful fragrant flowers. Since it finished flowering, the leaves have been turning yellow and falling off. It now looks ghastly. Does anyone know hey it has done this or what I can do to remedy it?

A magnolia is an outdoor tree that flowers early spring - are you sure what you have is a magnolia?
In most cases, the above answer's right, but is this what you have, Sasperilla?

Yes thats the one and it produces white highly fragranced flowers. Are you saying it's supposed to live outside?
Have you over watered it perhaps, Magnolias hate wet roots.
