Im looking at getting one with a thermostat. Is says goes up to 40degrees (not that i need it that hot).

Are the good? Do they give off a decent heat?

Im wanting to start off my pepper plants late december as they are long season. Chinense Varieties mainly, Habanero and Nagas. Im starting them under an envirolite in the summer house and i want to keep the cold off.

Im planning on laying the mat inside a large clear storage container and making a giant propagator.

As soon as the colds over they will go into the greenhouse.

Hi Chris,

I made a propagator (3' x 2') from a Readers Digest DIY book over 30 years ago using a soil warming cable, and a thermostat from a central heating system, it is still going strong now and I wouldn't be without it.

Go for it, you don't need to spend a fortune on a ready made propogator unless you want to, either way you won't regret it.

The only advice that I can give you is, make sure that you can ventilate it as and when.
