Amaryllis Bulb
What do I do with an amaryllis bulb once it has finished flowering, so that it will flower the following year? I have a single bulb in a pot in the living room. It produced two flowers a week or two ago. They are just going "past their best" now.

Continue to look after the plant all summer to encourage further leaf growth and give it some general fertiliser at least once during that time. Then at the end of the summer the leaves will begin to yellow and die down naturally.
When they turn yellow, cut them back to 2 inches above the neck of the bulb and then remove the bulb, clean it and dry it out. Leave it in a cool, dark place such as your garage until the end of the year then re-plant it.

I always leave my bulb after flowering where it still gets plenty of light during spring and summer. Water when the compost surface dries out and add liquid fertiliser once a month. In early autumn plant likes cooler temperatures and then stop watering. Leaves will turn brown and can then be removed. After few weeks of dormancy bring into warmer conditions and commence watering. Soak compost and then let the surface start to dry before watering again. A new bud should start to appear. Repot every two years.
These are the instructions I received from Thompson and Morgan when I received the plant. Hope they will be of help to you.
