I have lots of daffodils in my garden but have noticed this year that many of them have just leaves and no flowers. Anyone know why this might be and what i could do to stop it happening again next year?

They may be very crowded in which case you should lift them after flowering and replant them spacing them out well. However, I wonder how you treat them once they have flowered. It is very important not to damage the leaves in any way until they die naturally as it is the leaves that put all the goodness into the bulb to enable it to flower well the following year.
I should have also said that it is a good idea to deadhead the bulbs after flowering so they do not produce seed but save their strength for flowering the following year.
adding to what muff says, if you have a wood fire put some ash where they are over the winter, they love it.
Or a dressing of Potash.
