Is it true that rolling a lawn damages the grass roots. The reason I ask is that the local council doesn't roll the bowling greens any more, and this is one of the reasons I have heard.
TIA

Well I'm no groundsperson but over-rolling compacts the soil, causing poor drainage which would mean more work on aeration....all very expensive.
Or maybe they're making it more of a challenge with the 'speed' bumps? :o)
Robinia is right rolling is not good for lawns . I was reading a book all about lawns and it said no to rolling.
