Potatoes

I have grown new potatoes this year, I am very pleased with myself, I f I wanted to grow potatoes for harvest later on in the year when should I put them in.

Around now roll down the sides of a thich black bin bag or use an old dust bin, put in 4 inches of compost plant seed potatoes, cover. As soon as they shooyt cover with another few inchs of compost.Repeat. Keep rolling up the sides of the bin bag. Eventually you will have high shoots and potatoes ready for Xmas

There isn't much point in trying this unless you have a greenhouse as all the green shoots will get frosted and die once the first frost arrives. If you have a sunny greenhouse then it's worth a try.

probably a bit late now. My lates are still not ready for lifting. What you could try is planting some in large garden pots (this way they can be lifted even if the ground freezes) and keep in a sheltered place and they may be ready for Christmas
