Sorry, I meant bush fuchsias. With Standard types if left outside in the UK you must keep the tip frost free or what I have done quite successfully in the past is to shake of all the soil and clean up the plant, dust with yellow sulphur, roll it up in corrugated or newspaper and keep in a dark frost-free shed until the spring where it may appear to have died, but potted up in a good compost and kept slightly damp you should see new shoots appear in due coarse.
