Does anyone know of a weedkiller/herbicide that is as effective as Sodium Chlorate ? I want something that will basically clear ground ( gravelled) for six months or more and keep slabbed areas weed free. Looking at a combined area of about 350sq.metres

I use a weedkiller which has 40g/l Diflufenicanil and 250g/l Glyphosate and only need to treat once a year. The make is Bayer.

Many Thanks, Pathclear it is then.
I've just noticed it says that you can use it around trees and ornamental bushes but I wouldn't as it's very powerful stuff.
Yes, Coccinelle has the answer. Just a word of warning though if using professional products (a lot more effective) you will need a NPTC licence. You could also try putting a membrane down after weed killing and before slabbing.
