Identifying apples

We have inherited several apple trees at our new house - and some have produced some beautiful fruit - but how can I found out the variety?

These offer a service for a small fee. Otherwise, search the internet looking at identification charts, post a photo on here, ask friends, compare to local farmers markets and grocers.

Thanks Hawkwalk - managed to fin a local Apple Day yesterday with some experts on hand - and it seems they are Worcester Pearmain - mystery solved but thanks for your suggestion.
