My tips for gardeners in the Winter:

1. Don't leave 10 tons of snow on the greenhouse roof ... glass is only SO tough.
2. Get out in the garden, but take a camera instead of a trowel.
3. Feed the birds instead of the tomatoes.

4. Don't smoke weed .. It will turn you loopy.

Mind you don't fall out the loft - I know of 2 people who did just that, one of whom died and the other was taken to hospital seriously ill in the air ambulance!

Naz, I have dutifully followed your tips Nos. 2 and 3, but I haven't got a greenhouse.... I need to shake the snow off the bendy plants like bamboo tomorrow (if it's not already frozen).
There's a dead tree in the garden so I have tied fatballs and seed for the birds to the branches, in the hope that the snow's too deep for the cats to lie in wait. Dinner on a stick is usually too risky for me to attempt bird-feeding!
