does anyone know why emulsion paint would smell of rotten eggs?

I've got some B&Q kitchen & bathroom paint which was bought a couple of months ago. When we opened it today it smells like rotten eggs. Is it possible for paint to "go off"

Maybe it's not emulsion but eggshell.

It should be fine after a few months. I used paint much older.
Take it back to B&Q.
