Buy a couple of "slip couplings" ................
http:// www.ray grahams ...LiC9 LACFdIR fAodqH6 C3Q
Slide each one onto each of the cut ends (slip couplings have no central stop, so they can slide up the pipe on the one that comes from the ceiling.......... and down the pipe that comes out of the floor.)
Position the new piece........... then slide each coupling into place. Use plenty of silicone spray or washing-up liquid to lubricate the rubber seals.

In that case, you need a "strap boss" ................

Buy a rubber insert to fit inside the boss................ and a stop-end waste fitting. The strap boss is glued into place with ordinary solvent weld glue.
