Well you should put an underlay down before you lay the wooden floor anyway.
Was going to say the same. Mine has insulation under the flooring and is quite cosy barefoot
I had oak flooring laid a few years back, I was worried that it may be cold, but its not, and yes insulation was laid below it.
A lot of heat is lost through the floor, Queenie. A good move is to put something like Celotex insulation board under the floor. The problem is that the floor level is raised, plus having to step up into the room. Doors would have to be shortened too.

Many thanks, I asked because my friend has a wooden floor and it's like walking on ice, but I'd still like one as I don't like vacuuming. (Perhaps her insulation is too thin)
I still have to vacuum my wooden floor...............
We have wooden floors with lining underneath and it is not noticably colder unless you sit on it. Then it feels cold.
...and you have to vacuum more often because all the dog hairs show up. I do mine every day.

Oh dear! Never thought about the doors. Sounds like a big, expensive job- But probably worth.

Yes, I realise you have to vacuum, but think it would be easier, and I don't have a dog.
I've got underfloor heating under mine and it's wonderful. The cat stretches out on it in the winter. I hoover mine with the brush attachment on as it gets the animal hair up or it blows around like tumbleweed.
Underfloor heating sounds good. Does it not warp the wood, ladybirder?
Laminate is better with under floor heating.
No good with my jatoba then, Tony?
Dunno Tilly, could be alright.
Tilly........ I did a barn conversion recently with solid oak floors, and wet underfloor heating. It's used very often now :o)
It's too late now, I think. We should have had it done originally. I'm not having it all taken up again!
Mine's fine Tilly, new build 3.5 years ago. Really didn't fancy underfloor heating at all but I love it now. Especially on a cold winter's morning when I pad across the kitchen floor in my bare feet and it's lovely and warm, not hot.
