R50 Alternative

We have spotlights in the kitchen which take R50 light bulbs. These I need to change frequently which is a little tiresome. Could someone recommend alternative?

Had you considered that your constant need to change bulbs may be because they are overheating up there and this could be the cause of a shortened life? If they are recessed into the ceiling, this could the case.

Irrespective of that, you would get similar light output if you used halogen types - something like this:

These are 30% more efficient than conventional filament bulbs, so would produce less heat for the same light output.
